The Client
The client is a fast-growing US-based art retailer specializing in original paintings, limited-edition prints, sculptures, and mixed-media artworks. With a curated portfolio representing over 800 independent artists worldwide, they serve interior designers, corporate art consultants, hospitality projects, and private collectors across North America, Europe, and Australia.
Project Requirements
The client’s primary sales channels are Shopify and Amazon. While significant conversions were happening on the Shopify store, their Amazon store was underperforming. We were tasked with auditing and managing their Amazon store to improve rankings and conversions.
The key requirements involved:
Project Challenges
After an initial store audit, we identified several critical data and optimization issues that were hampering the client’s growth and required immediate intervention. Some of the key issues were:
Product descriptions were written by art procurement specialists who deeply understood artistic merit and provenance but lacked the expertise to create customer-friendly, conversion-oriented copy. The content failed to follow Amazon SEO best practices. Product titles didn't conform to Amazon's recommended format and missed primary keywords. Products’ USPs or benefits were rarely explained or covered in listings, with the focus instead on artistic techniques.
Several Amazon listings had incomplete details. Essential product attributes (including dimensions, weight specifications, and material compositions) were missing. Backend search terms were either empty or contained irrelevant keywords, wasting character limits. Several product pages were incorrectly categorized. All these data issues were negatively impacting search visibility and conversion rates.
The client had more than 20 suppressed listings, none of which were being tracked or addressed to resolve the issue. Our team had to identify the root causes of these listing suppressions, implement corrective actions, and submit appeals to restore them, thereby protecting revenue.
Despite offering high-quality artwork with competitive pricing, the client was losing ground to competitors with inferior products but superior Amazon execution. Competitors had well-designed Brand Stores, comprehensive A+ Content, professional lifestyle photography, and optimized copy that clearly communicated value propositions. The client's listings appeared generic and uninspiring in comparison, failing to convey the artistic quality, framing craftsmanship, and overall value that set their products apart.
The client’s Amazon brand storefront lacked a cohesive, data-driven strategy for layout and product presentation. Key elements, such as top-selling products and the latest collections, were not prominently displayed. The product catalog was not organized to support upselling and cross-selling, which could have driven higher average order values. Additionally, the navigation structure was disorganized, causing confusion among shoppers and higher bounce rates. Without a clear, customer-centric design and optimized product data categorization, the storefront was failing to convert visitors into buyers and capitalize on its full sales potential.
